Driving on the left. Steering wheel on the right. Narrower lanes. Motorcycles everywhere, weaving. There's a politeness, even in the mayhem. There's also an awareness, a sensitivity. Decisiveness.
There are special U-turn lanes and exits which are extremely handy. We stopped for a herd of buffalo. There are traffic police where you might need them. I am still figuring out their hand signals.
It has taken 7 minutes and it has taken 45 minutes to get to the same destination. One day we will learn the traffic patterns. There's also the kilometer thing.
I somehow don't mind switching from utter predictability to this maelstrom. In the back of my mind I've yearned for it. I kind of forgot. It was natural for me as a young man. It's funny that I'm experiencing and exposing myself to such things, almost at the point when it's too late.
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
You need energy to rage against the dying of the light.
